A wicket keeper batsmen is what teams look for than an wicket keeper. It is an art of keeping the wickets i,e protecting the wickets not of the batsmen but for the bowlers. There is also an element of risk involved when it comes to keeping, it is good to see keepers dive around to catch in the air not only of the edges but also for the bowlers misses.
Do really wicket keeper batsmen get what they deserved ,probably the answer comes straight away to me as no,as the name it self says wicket keeper batsmen. They need to balance between the two to spot a place in the side.
What happens if an player stays as a keeper for the national side for a decade, there will be too many hanging in there wings for an opportunity , not that they are poor but not good by the options provided by them.
The others may not be in selection coz they don't provide the same options what already the team had. They may have the different quality of their own and it's so natural that every player as and that cannot be altered.
They have to stay a long way to make it to the national side as batting stats alter season by season ,but keeping remain the same. Batting what makes a edge to the national side rather that keeping for the most times.
As a result players make it to the side at the late part of their career and you expect to perform consistently after being played more than hand full first class games. Although the role assigned in the side is quite different that of the domestic side and the unfamiliar one. Although the performances depend on the standards of the domestic circuit in the country.
There will be few players who will play their entire career in the domestic circuit without getting a taste of higher level Cricket. The truth remains unseen that most of wicket keeper batsmen don't get what they deserved when compared with the proper batsmen the circuit.
