Indian Veteran pace bowler Ashish Nehra who proved age is just a number in life or in sport is in eager to make a comeback into the ODI squad after his successful outings in the T20 format in 2016 and he is eyeing on a spot in the squad for the Champions Trophy 2017 in England.
The 38 year old Nehra made his presence felt since his comeback into the T20 format and it all started again for him back in IPL in last two seasons. While Nehra on his future Nehra told to ESPNcricinfo that he would love to play in Champions Trophy.
"I would love to play in the Champions Trophy," told Nehra.
Nehra added, “When you go to England you will take at least four fast bowlers in addition to two spinners. I know I can bowl anywhere: up front, in the middle over’s and at death. I can also share the experience I have with the other young fast bowlers."
But the experienced campaigner was not thinking to make into the squad with his T20 form and he wanted to earn his spot in the ODI squad with performing well in upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy.
"I aim to play at least three matches to build up my match-fitness. Fifty-over’s is a different challenge and Vijay Hazare is a good platform to test myself," Nehra said.
"I bowl about eight over’s even in the nets while preparing for a T20 match. It is not about fitness. It is about the feel of playing in a 50-over match."
The ace pace men is optimistic doing well in Vijay Hazare Trophy to test his fitness ahead of Champions Trophy and said, “Once I play these Vijay Hazare matches I will be fit enough to play and good to go for the Champions Trophy.”
